Palestinians and Israelis for Nonviolence was founded in 1985, after two years of discussion. In the first year we were very active together with the Palestinian Centre for the Study of Nonviolence (PCSN). Afterwards, following an internal crisis and following the deportation of PCSN director Dr. Mubarak Awad, activities were reduced. In September 1993 we conducted a conference on the possibilities of nonviolence in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As a result of the changed relationship between Israel and the PLO we were able to bring Dr. Mubarak Awad to the conference, for the first time since his deportation. Later we produced a small book containing some of the presentations given during the conference.
At present, in view of the terrible violence between our two peoples, we are attempting to renew activities.
